Many Springsteen fans are outraged this evening after having high hopes (no pun intended) this morning when Springsteen announced that fans would be allow to buy a USB wristband and then download any show of their choosing on the upcoming tour. Shows would be up within a 48 hour window period and everything was fine. First off, a lot of fans did not feel the need for a USB wristband. Why not just upload shows onto a service like iTunes or a website and just download the show instantly. Instead, with this plan you have to wither be at the show physically or buy a wristband to download one concert. Now, you have to pay for shipping if you are not at the show and wait until it arrives which could take a few days. This could all be done instantly if they did it as an online service. If you want to purchase another concert you have to purchase yet another wristband. Not only that, but the dang thing is $40 per wristband which means $40 per concert. WHAT?!? Sorry Bruce, I love ya, but that is ridiculous. The price should have been $20. That would've been reasonable as you got a wristband every time but $40 is a little overkill.
Let us go through an example:
I hope Bruce and his management team realize that the fans are grateful for this opportunity. We have wanted this for quite some time now. Honestly, I don't mind the USB wristband as it acts as a "souvenir" for people who attended the show, but an online service would have functioned a lot better. The price is what I am most frustrated about. I will only buy one or at the most two shows from the tour now. If you priced these at $15 or $20 it would be easy for the consumer to come back and to swallow that smaller price tag. But to price one show at $40 is beyond ridiculous. I really hope they realize that they would sell a lot more and make a lot more money if they lowered the price.
If you would like to pre-order a wristband for $40, by all means you can do so now by clicking here.
You can help to try and lower the price, click here to go sign a petition that will hopefully grab the attention from Bruce's management or Bruce himself.
